Ok, so I failed making my deadline of one blog a week. It’s going to take a bit of getting used to, so bear with me! My last couple weeks have been crazy with a mix of a lot of work and some goofing off when I shouldn’t be, and coming down with bronchitis certainly didn’t help either. So, this actually gives me an idea of what I want to talk about: ProcrastinationIf you’re like me, it’s not uncommon to get stuck in a rabbit hole watching YouTube videos, or addicted to a dumb iPhone game in which you swearyou’ll stop just after this level. I’ve been there. Plenty of times. I’m not perfect, but lately there’s some things I’ve been doing that helps me avoid procrastination, or at least put it on hold… And maybe some of these can help you as well! procrastinating on procrastination = productiveness 1. | Get out of BED before 10:00amYes, I know for a lot of people waking up past 7:00am is blasphemy, but as someone who tends to stay up late at night, waking up around 10:00am or 11:00am is fairly common. For me, it takes conscious effort to wake up before 10:00am. But, why before 10:00am? Here’s why: Waking up and getting started on my day early keeps me naturally more productive throughout the entire day. I get to experience more daylight, and therefore it feels like a longer day, which then feels like I can get more done, which in turn gives me greater motivation. But, once again, why before 10:00am? 9:30am seems significantly earlierthan 10:00am. If the clock says 9:59, you’re waking up nice and early. But 10:00? Oh you slept in! It’s the same logic why companies use the “.99” model when pricing products. 2. | Eat a light breakfastYou’re out of bed, but that doesn’t mean your mind and body are suddenly up and ready to go. If anything, they’re both screaming at you. Or grunting annoyed moans, because it’s early and no one wants to be screaming early. The next bit that helps me is to eat some cereal. I have a bad habit of skipping breakfast and just eating lunch in the afternoon. I also have extreme difficulties eating heavier foods in the morning like eggs and bacon. So, the best thing is to just have a classic bowl of cereal. This helps give me some energy in the morning before I start my day. 3. | 7-Minute WorkoutExercise! Exercise really gets the blood flowing. It might be tough at first, but once you get a rhythm going, you’ll get used to it and actually start to enjoy it. I personally do something called the 7-minute workout. It’s basically an intense set of exercises that’ll get you going, but only for 7 minutes. The nice thing about this is there’s no excuse not to do it. You don’t need any equipment, just a chair or wall for some exercises (like wall sit). A good app that I like using is called Seven by Perigee: There are other apps out there that are similar, but this is the one that I personally use and enjoy. 4. | Brain GamesExercising your body isn’t enough. Giving your brain a good boost is also important to get things going! I find brain games are good at doing this, as they really require you to focus. One that I personally use is called “Elevate”. It is similar to the more popular Lumosity one, except that it is quite a bit cheaper (only a couple dollars per month). If you’d like to give it a try, you can find it here: So I think these 4 things seem to really make a big difference in my day to day motivation and energy. Of course, there’s always plenty other things to be done as well. If you try this and it works for you, let me know how it worked out! Also, if there’s any little tricks you might know of, I’d love to hear that too.

Hello! So I’ve never written a blog before, but I wanted to start writing one to gain some better experience writing! This is something new to me, so forgive me if there are some obvious mistakes or errors, a different way I could have written a post, or whatever it may be. This blog will primarily contain a random bit of things. I am a videographer and editor, and working towards getting into marketing, so a lot of my posts will simply be things I find interesting and want to talk about it. So, for this first post, I’ll start by talking a little bit about myself: Hi, my name is Eric.![]() “Hiiiiiii Eric”, says you. I’m currently 27 (as of June of 2017) and live in San Diego county. I am currently engaged to the love of my life, Amber, who is the best fiance in the entire world (I don’t care what you say. It’s true!). I’ve been in the video production industry since 2009 and love filming. Amber is also in this industry as a video editor and AD (Assistant Director), and a really freaking good one at that! Amber and I work together very regularly on just about every production we do. We are pretty much a pair; you hire one of us, and in one way or another you’ll get both of us. We both have our own companies, but we are working together to start an LLC very soon to really make things more official! I currently live at home with my parents, but will be moving in with my future wife after we’re married. I generally don’t like admitting that I live with my parents, but it sure helps keep the monthly bills WAY down! I don’t own any animals personally, but I do live with 1 bird and 2 cats. Scooter and Dodger are some of the nicest cats you’d meet! They (quite literally) wouldn’t hurt a fly. Sunny… Well, she can be a little snot sometimes.
I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I enjoy figuring out more efficient and effective ways to get something done better, but sometimes that can get frustrating for me when I can’t improve something the way I want it to. Hobbies… Well, I’d say Amber is one of my hobbies. I have others, but they change quite often. I tend to not stick with one fun thing for very long (I don’t treat my women how I treat my hobbies, though) and like to change things up. I do enjoy bowling, board games and definitely video games (although I don’t play them too often anymore because I get addicted easily). I’d say that’s pretty much the gist of me! I could literally go on forever I feel like, but I’d say it’s better to keep this relatively short and brief, and go into some deeper details either about myself or about things I have an interest in. I am not set or certain yet on how often I’ll post, but I will try and set a goal for right now to post at least once a week. Anyways, thanks for reading! |
